2008 Carnegie International
When Andrew Carnegie opened his art museum in 1895, he also launched the exhibition now known as the Carnegie International. He charged the curators to establish a regular exhibition highlighting "the old masters of tomorrow." For more than 100 years, that's what the International has done, presenting artists like Mary Cassatt and James McNeill Whistler. But while the names may be well known, how the show comes together is a mystery to most Pittsburghers. In this special series, reporter Mark Nootbaar pulls back the curtain on the Carnegie International.
This series is underwritten by Concept Art Gallery in Regent Square.
