The National Heritage Awards Concert: A two-hour special documenting the recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. A full concert performance. Previous performers have included the late "Pops" Staples and Charles Brown, Ali Akbar Khan and Jim and Jesse McReynolds.
Folk Tours: Four one-hour programs fom tours presented by the National Council for the Traditional Arts.
A Century of Heroes: Daily radio stories about everyday courage and 100 ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Poetry Sung, Poetry Said: A special program documenting the work of poet Miller Williams and his daughter, singer - songwriter Lucinda Williams.
International Poetry Forum: A series presenting live readings from such poets as Seamus Heaney and John Updike with readings by James Earl Jones and Brooke Shields.
Jazz Français: A series of French jazz artists recorded in La Maison Française at the Embassy of France, Washington, D.C.
Finland Festivals: A series devoted to the many summer music festivals in Finland. These include the Helsinki and Kuhmo Festivals.
International Music from Carnegie Mellon: A series of concerts presented by the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music featuring composers and performers from Latin America and Mexico.
Lowell Folk Festival: A series of national folk artists presented in the historic city of Lowell, Massachusetts. The programs include music from New Orleans, Maritime Canada and the honky tonks of America.
Echoes of Africa: A series featuring African-American folk artists such as the Georgia Sea Island Singers, John Cephas and Phil Wiggins.
Steel City Legacies: A series of prominent African-American jazz artists who began their careers in Pittsburgh. These include Billy Strayhorn and Mary Lou Williams.
Folk Celebrations: A series of concert performances from various festivals documenting the rich American folk traditions. The programs include Irish music, Tex-Mex, Blues and a special celebration of the steel string guitar with Albert Lee and the late Tal Farlow.
Banjo Meltdown: A series which presents artists demonstrating various facets of the instrument, showing both its African roots and contemporary applications. Prominent performers include Pete Seeger, Ralph Stanley, Taj Mahal and the late John Hartford.
Belfast Festival: Programs from one of Ireland's most popular festivals. The festival is held at the historic Queen's University.
Montanea Festival: A series from Switzerland's innovative music festival which features 20th century chamber music from this festival near the capital city of Bern.
Parenting for a Peaceful Home: Modular features addressing healthy growth and family development.
One Poem at a Time: Short poems read by the poet Samuel Hazo. Gregory Peck introduces the short features.
