FOLK TOURS
DUQ presents four one-hour programs, from tours presented by the National Council for the Traditional Arts. Joe Wilson hosts. Programs are free-of-charge in October, 2006. Guitar Masters Outstanding performances by Piedmont blues stylist John Cephas, Hawaiian slack key guitarist Ledward Kaapana, preserver of the Carter Family tradition, Wayne Henderson, Dobro master Jerry Douglas, legendary jazz guitarist Tal Farlow, and rockabilly trailblazer Albert Lee. Cowboy Tour Songs, yarns, fiddling and cowboy poetry from Glenn Ohrlin, Brownie Ford, Junior Daugherty, Karin Haleamau, Duff Severe, and others. African-American Violin Highlighting perfromances by two remarkable musicians, jazz violinist Claude Williams and the incomparable Howard Armstrong. Masters of Mexican Music The traditional music of Mexico from modern masters, including Jose Gutierrez, Mingo Saldivar, Marimba Chiapas, and Mariachi Los Camperos De Nati Cano. (Great for airing around Cinco de Mayo). Folk Tours is supported, in part, by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
