Fred Serino
Director of Development
Fred Serino joined the staff of DUQ in 2000. He came to DUQ from WQED Pittsburgh, where he served as the Director of Membership and previously as Development Associate. As Director of Membership for WQED Pittsburgh, he was responsible for all membership fundraising activities for the public television and public radio station.
Previously, Fred was Director of Development for the National Kidney Foundation of Western Pennsylvania with responsibility for individual, corporate and foundation support, fundraising events and the Foundation's first-ever Capital Initiative. He also held the position of Manager of Special Events for the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
Fred is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is currently Treasurer of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter. In 1997, he earned the designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive. In 2001, Fred was asked by DEI (Development Exchange, Inc.) to serve as a station-based consultant for public radio stations around the country. He will consult on individual giving, membership management and direct marketing fundraising. In addition to giving presentations and workshops at national and regional development and broadcast industry meetings, he is the immediate Past-President of the Carriage House Children's Center, a community center in Pittsburgh. Fred has also served on various committees for St. Edmund's Academy in Pittsburgh.
Fred received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and also trained at the Rose Bruford School of Speech and Drama in London, England. He appeared in numerous stage productions in regional theatre, in New York and on tour while a member of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
Fred and his wife and children live in Pittsburgh's East End.
