Scott Hanley
Director / General Manager
Scott Hanley came to DUQ in 1995. A former news reporter, producer, music director, news director and program director, his twenty-plus year broadcasting career has included commercial and public radio positions in Texas, Iowa and his native Michigan, plus work in television.
Scott served two terms on the National Public Radio (NPR) Board of Directors, from 2002 - 2008. As a board member, Scott was Chair of the Distribution/Interconnection Committee and served on the Executive Committee and the Investment Committee. Scott also serves on several advisory panels for NPR.
He is Manager of JazzWorks LLC, a jazz radio service for public radio stations across the country. He has led or been a panelist for numerous sessions at national conferences, including topics and workshops on station financial planning, technology, programming and journalism.
Scott has a degree in music and has performed widely as a singer and instrumentalist. He also performs an academic role as Director of Applied Media Communication for Duquesne University including teaching assignments in production, journalism and media sales. He is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh, President of the Pittsburgh Radio Organization and Chair of the Public Broadcasting Management Association. Scott and his family live in the North Hills.
