The Founding Fathers knew that without a king, an informed citizenry was necessary for the success of a democracy. So, early on, the government subsidized newspapers, established the postal system (to facilitate the flow of information), and planned out public education. But here in the digital age, all the old methods are faltering. This one-hour special from Humankind looks at the effects low civic knowledge could have on our democracy.
