A message from WDUQ Director/General Manager Scott Hanley

The late NBC News anchor and commentator John Chancellor once wrote that "News is a Chronicle of Conflict and Change."

Much as we at DUQ and NPR try to reinforce the need for news to be in-depth and encourage understanding... the conflict often becomes more important than the actual issue itself.

While exploration of issues can put us on the hot seat, both NPR and DUQ have ALWAYS been committed to present not just both sides, but the many sides of a controversial issue.

As you may be aware, a conflict is in full swing now over WDUQ declining a gift from Planned Parenthood, which wants to associate that gift with messages for a marketing campaign.

WDUQ was the first media outlet to cover this story. If you missed our coverage, you can listen to it here in the DUQ news archive.

Conflict and change is all around us - and it is often much more complicated than the headlines or the messaging from the parties involved. NPR and DUQ are committed to offer an unbiased exploration of those complexities every day.

Now, more than ever, it is listener support that sustains the longstanding tradition of the editorial independence and integrity of WDUQ.

The choice is and has always been yours.

The phone number is 412 396-2000.
