A Commitment to News & Public Affairs

WDUQ newsroom in the 1950s
The 1980s saw a great amount of growth in public radio. WDUQ joined in that advancement with greatly increasing listenership, staffing and programming. The station's commitment to balanced, insightful coverage of critical issues continued to grow.

WDUQ newsroom today
WDUQ’s local and regional news effort became award-winning in the 1980s and continues today. Recognition has been received from the Associated Press, Public Radio News Directors, Inc., Golden Quill and the Ohio State Awards. Investments in new technology brought digital field and studio production capability and the ability to broadcast news from any point in the WDUQ listening area and beyond.

WDUQ is increasingly important on a national and global scale as the voice of Pittsburgh for the NPR network and other distribution outlets.
