In June 2000, WDUQ received the first Mellon Jazz Festival Community Jazz Award recognizing the station's significant contribution to jazz in southwestern Pennsylvania.
At the national level, WDUQ launched JazzWorks in 1998, a national jazz network for public radio stations across the country. Through the use of technological innovations, the service provides a dramatically new method for the national distribution of jazz programming. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting awarded JazzWorks a $390,000 grant to expand operations. At this time, JazzWorks is heard on more than 40 public radio stations across the U.S.
WDUQ's "Rhythm Sweet & Hot," heard on Saturday evenings from 9 - 12 pm (ET), is also heard in Puerto Rico, Australia and across the United States.
WDUQ is a founding member of the Jazz Radio Consortium which encourages collaboration, research and advocacy, and information-sharing among public radio stations throughout the United States.
