Anderson Little

Special Projects Director/Host & Executive Producer The Anderson Little Report

In 1972, Anderson Little came to DUQ to help build and develop the radio station, involve students in the field of broadcasting and introduce the station to the community through news-oriented, public affairs reporting.

Starting out as Window Into The Community, Anderson's radio program changed titles over the years to Community Perspective and Pittsburgh Perspective. Now entitled The Anderson Little Report, the program has never changed its focus as an exploration of the business, employment, education, cultural and social issues that are a part of the everyday lives of Pittsburgh's various communities, with a particular emphasis on the African-American community.

Anderson is a Pittsburgh native whose interest in radio developed early in high school. He attended Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Kansas and Duquesne University. Throughout his radio career in Kansas City and Pittsburgh, Anderson has worked with nearly every facet of the industry-- from top forty DJ to radio sales to program producer to promotions. In Pittsburgh, he also worked with WAMO-AM and FM, KQV and WQED television before joining DUQ.

Anderson developed his public affairs and community affairs news reporting format of PPF--Past, Present, Future--to examine the information and ideas that affect the Pittsburgh community. The format presents the community leaders, agencies and organizations involved with far-reaching issues. Ninety percent of the features are location reports. Going out into the community to listen to the people and organizations behind the ideas and information, he personally records the lectures, speeches, interviews, award programs, seminars, conferences, special presentations, and interviews that impact Pittsburgh.

In March 1998, Anderson received a certificate of appreciation from the U. S. House of Representatives recognizing his "many years of dedication and service to the Pittsburgh community through his work as a radio journalist, program manager and disc jockey at WDUQ and WAMO, and for the consistently high quality of his outstanding radio program, The Anderson Little Report."

In March 2000, Anderson received the Community Services and Communications Award--The Rev. J. A. Williams Award--from the Alleghenians, Ltd. In May 2000, he was a recipient of the New People Justice Award from the Thomas Merton Center in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. named Anderson "2003 Professional Man of the Year."
